Whether you are a beginner or an experienced player, join Coach Corbin for an exciting season of chess!

National Master Corbin Yu has been teaching chess to kids in Lake Oswego for over ten years. In his clubs, he tailors his teaching to students’ skill levels while cultivating a fun and friendly learning environment. Students combine what they’ve learned with their own creativity in games with each other.

As the students progress, they are introduced to dynamic chess variants such as bughouse, progressive, and cylindrical chess that help them approach the game from fresh perspectives. These variants encourage teamwork and sharpen their abstract problem solving skills.

Corbin Yu competed in tournaments from elementary school through college, winning three individual Oregon high school state championships, tying for first at the National Open, and earning his National Master title at the 2013 World Open.
